Our clinic had prepared a video which shows the andrological and embryological laboratory. Cameras are not often allowed inside the laboratory, therefore we have decided to show the view from the inside.


- We wanted to show how complex and multi-staged the process of IVF is, as well as infertility examinations. In the andrological laboratory the sperm is tested to be then used for fertilization. At this point we make their assessment, mobility, morphology, and we study male fertility while diagnosing the problem. Here also the semen is stored in liquid nitrogen - explains Doctor of Biological Sciences, Wojciech Sierka, head of Gyncentrum laboratory.

- The fertilisation procedures are performed under the microscope and on the glass- this takes place in the embryological laboratory. This is where the embryos are stored. They are placed in special mediums. They are later transferred to woman's uterus. The conditions here are similar to the interior of a woman's body, says the specialist.

The IVF laboratory of the Gyncentrum Clinic is one of the most modern in Poland. We perform IVF, PICSI, ICSI and IVF IMSI. In the andrological laboratory we examine the semen, using a computerized SCA semen analyzer. Thanks to this study, mobility and sperm density, structure, viability and DNA can be assessed. We also carry TESA and PESA (transcutaneous semen collection) tests and SCD tests (DNA tests of damaged sperm).

Our laboratory also offers the cryopreservation of male and female reproductive cells. This solution can be used for example by people with cancer, fearing for their fertility after chemotherapy and radiation. In the laboratory the embryos, the oocytes and the sperm are vitrified in the temperature of -196 Celcius degrees- explains Gyncentrum specialist.
